Brittany Lo: Business Partner, BFF, Cousin.
I'm a really lucky girl. I know this, and I try my best to not take it for granted. I'm especially lucky for my large, loving family- shoutout to all the Antaleks and Donovans! My mom is one of 5 children, my dad is one of 6, and growing up, I was always surrounded by many aunts, uncles and cousins at family gatherings.
I loved to spend time with the whole gang, but I was always closest my my wonderful cousin Brittany. Not only is she my cousin, but I will forever consider her a best friend. Maybe it's because we're the same age (ugh fine, I'm 6 months younger!) or maybe it's just because we've shared a spirit in us that not many people have the pleasure of possessing: the entrepreneurial spirit.
We may have grown up 6 hours apart, but we made a point whenever we saw each other to do something creative and productive. We made entire dance recitals, costumes and all, where our family was required to buy tickets to come watch us perform. Or we would have bake sales, with cute cookies and lemonade. Basically, we would do anything to make a business out of our activities together.
Here we are, so many years later, at age 24, and we are both running our own businesses. You may have seen Brittany on the recent reality dating show, Coupled, but her daily life is spent as the founder and CEO of the successful luxury beauty services company, Beautini. Brittany is based in NYC, but we do our best to collaborate and help each other out in the business world any chance we can get. I am Brittany's graphic designer, and she helps to promote my jewelry on her blog. We get together for brainstorm sessions, we discuss our growths and downfalls, vent about our struggles as business owners, and boost one another for our triumphs. I stay with Brittany often when I am on business in NY, and she stays with me every time she is here in Boston.
We finally had a day to meet up and enjoy some coffee at the beautiful Tatte bakery with my wonderfully talented friend, Andrea, the owner of Brass Tacks Photography. She captured us in our element: having a meeting over food and coffee.
I can't express how proud I am of this young woman and all she has accomplished. I have been so lucky to have such an amazing family and to have her by my side all these years.
